The Great Songs That I Have Ever Listened

Mick Jagger (1)

Mick Hagger I just want to tell a story about the two songs of Sir Michael Phillip “Mick” Jagger -most popular call Mick Jagger- Hard Woman and Party Doll.  In 80’s, the sky of Bandung city in West Java, the place where I Studied in university, was decorated by mellow song such Hello and My Love of Lionel Richie or Knife of Rockwell from radio station. But Hard Woman is different.

Why different? I don’t know the answer, but my feeling tell another thing.  I knew Jagger voice for the first time when I was in basic school, circa 1977, when I did scouting jamboree in a little mountainous village in Torowek, West Java. My colleage, Dadang who representatives my village for Sibolangit Jamboree in North Sumatera, sang The Rolling Stones “Hongky Thonk Women” with his guitar. So I’m very impressed with his played.

Later, I know the singer is Mick Jagger, founder of legendary band from England, Rolling Stones who born in Dartford, Kent, England, July 26, 1943. Not only singer and celebrities, he is also a songwriter, fim producer, and even businessman. His father is Basil Fanshawe “Joe” Jagger with mother Eva Ensley Mary Scutts. He loved singing since his childhood and always sang everywhere he want. Frankly, I love his hard voice.

Here is the two songs that I love so much:

Hard Woman

She’s a hard woman to please
And I thought about letting her know
She’s a hard lady to leave
and I thought about letting her go
She’s a tough lady to leave
But, I thought about it
She’s a hard lady to please, yes she is

I gave her laughter, she wanted diamonds
I was romantic, she treated my cruelly
Where is the mercy, where is the love?

You see, passion has a funny way
Of burning down and running low
And suddenly it goes out
And you wonder where does it go

She’s a hard woman to please
I’ve thought about letting her know
She’s a hard lady to leave, yes she is

I gave her laughter, she wanted diamonds
She was unfaithful, treated me cruelly
Where is the mercy, where is the love?

I’m alone at last; something inside of me knows
I could have loved in vain
For a thousand years
I have to let her go

I’ve got to let her go
I’ve got to say goodbye
How can I say goodbye to my baby?
She’s a tough cookie, hard lady
I’ve got to say goodbye

Alone at last and something inside of me knows
I could have loved in vain for a thousand years
I have to let her go

And time goes so fast and new love starts so slow
I could have loved in wain for a thousand years
I have to let her go

I’ve got to let her go
I’ve got to say goodbye
Hard woman to please, yes you are
Hard woman,tough lady,
I’ve got to, I’ve got to say goodbye.
How can I say goodbye to my baby?
How can I say goodbye to my baby?
So long honey.

Party Doll

You used to be my party doll
But now you say the party’s over
You used to love to honky tonk
But now the honky tonking’s over
Now life is a bitter thing, my sweet
Now life is a mystery to me
Love’s pain, I ain’t buying
Love’s strange. I keep trying, trying, trying

You used to be my party doll
But now you want to live in clover
You used to be my number one
But now those salad days are over

Times change but the fascination stays
Love wins but the passion just fades
I’ll drink to the dancing days
I’ll drink to your crazy ways
Through the whiskey haze

Face the music, face the truth
Chase that fleet sweet bird of youth
Grow up sweetly, grow up strong
Hear the heartbeat, in my song

Love’s pain, I ain’t buying
Love’s strange. I keep trying, trying, trying

You used to be my party doll
But now you say the party’s over
You used to love to honky tonk
But now those dancing days are over
You used to be my number one
But now you vanished in the ozone
