The Great Songs That I Have Ever Listened

John Lennon (1)

John LennonIN the year 1970, I was still in kindergarten “TK BKOW” in my village, Tasikmalaya, West Java, when I listened from the local radio Buana Jaya a song like this: Mother you had me, but I never had you. I wanted you, but you didn’t want me. Sure, I didn’t know the meaning, the singer, or even at what kind of language that song singing. I didn’t try ask my mom or my dad about this song on the radio. May be they didn’t know either.

Someday, I played with my friend who had brother singing that song with his guitar. When I passed his room, I saw a huge poster: man with long hair and round glasses. There was a signing or letter at that poster,  but I couldn’t read at that time. So I asked who was that man to my friend’s brother, he replied: “Oh, he is John Lennon!” While he sang, “Mother you had me…” But for me the answer was meaningless until 8 December 1980, when I listened news radio that John Lennon died by dead shoot. I shouted, “Oh my God, the guy with long hair and round glasses and sang Mother die!”

At that time, when Lennon passed away, I was in junior high sechool and love reading: book, magazine or newspaper. I read at daily Kompas, Mark David Chapman killed Lenon by his revolver. The world shock, include my village on Lennon death. Sure I know Lennon better, even he did solo carrier after separate with The Beatles. I know other Lennon song such as Imagine and Oh Yoko.

In the next post, I will tell you about who Lennon is. I mean  where he was born or a kind of curriculum vitae and carrier. But in this post, I just want to share you the remarkable song, or may be immportal song by Lennon: Mother and Imagine. I hope, I can post another greatest song composed by Lennon.

Mother

Mother, you had me, but I never had you
I wanted you, you didn’t want me
So I, I just got to tell you
Goodbye, goodbye

Father, you left me, but I never left you
I needed you, you didn’t need me
So I, I just got to tell you
Goodbye, goodbye

Children, don’t do what I have done
I couldn’t walk and I tried to run
So I, I just got to tell you
Goodbye, goodbye

Mama don’t go
Daddy come home

Imagine

Imagine there’s no heaven
It’s easy if you try
No hell below us
Above us only sky
Imagine all the people
Living for today…

Imagine there’s no countries
It isn’t hard to do
Nothing to kill or die for
And no religion too
Imagine all the people
Living life in peace… you whooo

You may say I’m a dreamer
But I’m not the only one
I hope someday you’ll join us
And the world will be as one

Imagine no possessions
I wonder if you can
No need for greed or hunger
A brotherhood of man
Imagine all the people
Sharing all the world… you whooo

You may say I’m a dreamer
But I’m not the only one
I hope someday you’ll join us
And the world will live as one
