DUSSELDORF, Germany, December 7th 2007, in Pizza Hut Restaurant in railway station, I heard Rod Stewart husky voice, shout “Matilda” softly. I accompanied with Budi Putra, an Indonesian blogger who invited by Nokia to attend the annual meeting in Amsterdam, Holland. But, I didn’t find Stewart song name “Matilda”. He just shout that name ini his song. Frankly, I dind’t know the title, but I know best that song.

Dan Fogelberg

DAN Fogelberg. I have never known his name until I moved to Makassar, South Celebes in 2001 to 2004 due to my job. As a journalist, I never could refuse my placement all over Indonesia. In this nice town, Makassar, far away from home, I listened again Dan Fogelberg voice, Longer. Undoubtly, Longer was his immortal song. I have ever listened this song when I was in senior high school at my village, but in Makassar I just known the name: Dan Fogelberg. I picked my guitar and then tried to search the Longer notes.

IN the year 1970, I was still in kindergarten “TK BKOW” in my village, Tasikmalaya, West Java, when I listened from the local radio Buana Jaya a song like this: Mother you had me, but I never had you. I wanted you, but you didn’t want me. Sure, I didn’t know the meaning, the singer, or even at what kind of language that song singing. I didn’t try ask my mom or my dad about this song on the radio. May be they didn’t know either.

 I just want to tell a story about the two songs of Sir Michael Phillip “Mick” Jagger -most popular call Mick Jagger- Hard Woman and Party Doll.  In 80’s, the sky of Bandung city in West Java, the place where I Studied in university, was decorated by mellow song such Hello and My Love of Lionel Richie or Knife of Rockwell from radio station. But Hard Woman is different.

OLIVER, someone over there, sent me a comment for my previous posting, The Rock (1), a new band founded by Ahmad Dhani with his three Aussies colleage. Just to say, Ahmad Dhani is prominent people in this country as young talented musician. In The Rock, Ahmad Dhani sang his song, Munajat Cinta and became the soul of this band. Oliver wrote:

NO more lonely night, never be another…  This chunk of lyrics trapped me to the past when I was in university in 80’s. I listened the singer, Sir Paul McCartney from radio station in Bandung when I laid down in my bad, then I had a cassette which consist of compillation. One of the songs was No More Lonely Night.

IF you ask me what the most romantic balad song that I ever listened, undoubtly, I’ll answer: When I Need You by Leo Sayer! May be you still remember the overture of the lyric… when I need you, I just close my eyes and I’m with you… So romantic, isn’t it? It’s remind me to the past, when I was in junior high school. Sometimes, I listened Sayer’s voice when I was in public transportation in my village, when I went to  school or when backed home.

ALL Indonesian music lover know one name: Ahmad Dhani. He is Indonesian young musician with a huge talent, birth in Surabaya, East Java. He is a controversial person due to his family life turbulence, but I don’t care about it. I knew Dhani’s music went I listened one of his song, Risalah Cinta by accident many years ago. Dhani is not only member of Dewa 19, but he is a founder the outstanding band in this country.

HI, friends, here I’m telling you something about American R&B singer, Beyonce Giselle Knowles, who presented in Jakarta, capital city of Indonesia. As I mention earlier, Boyence will appear in Jakarta on November 1st. She really made Indonesian fans hardcore hysteric, sing and shake together, include some Indonesian out standing  artist such as Agnes Monica, Luna Maya, Ferdi Hasan, Olga Saputra, Dona Agnesia with her husband amongs audience, and others.
